Something that I am asked often my people is "How Do I Make My eBay Listing Private ?" Or what is a Private Listing ?
As you look around the eBay site you will often see the term Private Listing, or as you look through the completed listings you will quite often see ID Private. So what is this ?
Private listings are as the word says private. When you fitst look at the listing it appears normal but you will see in the listing that the seller and eBay have put that this is a private listing and that all bidders and buyers ID's will be kept private.
You often see these private listings take place when the items on sale are very high value or of a sensitive nature. Only the seller can see the ID of the person who wins. This protects the buyer from people seeing what they have just bought.
But let's flip the coin for a second. And let's say as a seller we see something we can buy and make a profit on, normally we just buy and hope no one sees what we are buying. But if it is a private listing we can buy and know that no one will ever know it us who has just bought that job lot of widgets to re-sell.
So if you sell in certain areas of eBay you should use a private listings and when you do, you will notice that your sales will be higher as people will know they can buy in safety.
